WHO ARE WE?Burnaby Counselling Group is a registered not-for profit society serving God by providing spiritually sensitive and psychologically skillful counselling, training, and teaching to people in our communities.WHAT IS IT?The Building and Rebuilding Lives Program captures the spirit of the ministry our therapists are involved in every day. The image of building and rebuilding comes from Nehemiah when the walls of Jerusalem were broken down and he was moved by the Spirit to see the city rebuilt. The people became discouraged as they encountered so much rubble that needed to be removed before they could rebuild the wall. The people who come seeking our help are like the city whose walls are broken down. Their lives have crumbled, they are struggling and in pain. Like the walls around Jerusalem, they need to be rebuilt. They need the help of others who are trained and gifted for the task of clearing the rubble out of the way so that level foundations can be laid, and walls that are strong and true can be rebuilt around their lives. We are starting this new initiative in hopes of continuing to provide support for those in need and creating new opportunities to serve our community through outreach and group support.HOW DO WE DO IT?In order to make these services available, we rely on the love and generous financial support of Christian Churches, Businesses and individual donors. Based on 30 years of experience, we’ve determined that in order to achieve healing, it takes most clients on average six months to a year of regular therapy. However, many are unable to afford to come for an extended period of time and this means that their process of healing is not as thorough or effective as it could be.We look to you for your help. In this donor initiative, individuals or groups of people will be able to choose a specific area of need they’re passionate about and support clients through their therapy program. The key areas that we’ve identified that require need for financial assistance in their care are: a. Couples b. Couples with Children c. Children d. Single Parents in need of Parenting Support e. Individuals experiencing Depression and/or Anxiety f. Immigrants experiencing Post Traumatic Stress g. Greatest Need We invite you to partner with us through sponsoring one, or two, or even three clients in their building and rebuilding of their lives. The cost for one program is $3000. Your donation is tax-deductible and goes directly to supporting client care.
